Okinawa Japan Strawberry picking & Ice skating

Yes, you read that title right, never would have I put these two activities together but they were 20 minutes apart, so we did them in the same day! First up was Strawberry picking at Chura Ichigo in Nanjo down in the southern part of Okinawa. Let me quickly remind you I am from South Jersey, land of the best produce around. I mean, have you really tried a tomato if it didn’t come from South Jersey? They are out of this world, like nothing you’ve ever tasted before. Trust. So I’ve had my fair share of fresh produce including Jersey strawberries and this Okinawa variety was right up there.

The strawberry picking took place in a green house and you must call ahead to make a reservation – it was pricey, but worth it. It’s all you can eat strawberries for 40 minutes and oh so much fun. It was a neat surprise to see the different aisles labeled according the strawberry type. Here’s their info and website to make your reservation, open till from December to May.

After we filled up on all the berries, it was a 20 minute drive to the Southern Hill Ice skating rink. I can’t remember the last time I went ice skating, it’s been a hot minute! My two boys (13 and 8) had never been, this was gonna be interesting. When we pulled up, I was concerned it was closed, absolutely no one was there but thankfully it was open! We paid a discount rate because it was Friday, surprise! We strapped those skates on and danced to the beat of the current playlist and by danced I mean fell alot. SO. MUCH. FUN. DO rent the chair you can push on the ice, it makes learning for everyone so much easier! Purchase your ticket inside at the counter vending machine (just like ramen) which includes skating and rentals. Ya’ll. They need us, no one was there! Also on Wednesdays is a ladies discount day, I feel a girls day coming on. Here’s their website with more info!
