Okinawa Japan/Top things to do up North

When we first arrived in Okinawa for the first tour everyone said it looked just like Hawaii, but when you arrive in Naha airport you are surrounded by city and the concrete jungle. Then we went north. If there’s one thing you do in Okinawa make sure it includes going North and then proceed to these next 6 must see and do things!

Ryugujo Butterfly garden

If your kiddos love butterflies you’ll want to carve out an hour or so in your day for this stop. Its just down the road from the aquarium, never crowded and guaranteed butterfly landings, on your head no less!

Churaumi Aquarium

Its true what they say about this place, awe-inspiring. The kids will be super happy and how many opportunities in your lifetime will you get to see a whale shark?

Pizza in the Sky

The first time we visited the popular pizza place with a view we had to follow a motorcyclist up the hills. Fast forward to the wonderful age we live in with google maps and there’s no getting lost now finding this slice of heaven in the sky. The pizza is truly delicious matched with stunning northern Okinawa views makes this place a must stop on our list.

Okuma

If you are military this is a must stay, you can’t beat the price or the views. Think of it as adult camp! Okuma is a military recreational area so you must be an ID holder to book a reservation at this dreamy little spot. Lodging comes with a wide spectrum of choices from pitching a tent to more cushy cabins complete with a golf cart. Your kiddos will fall in love with this place as much as you will-with go carts, tennis courts, basketball courts, ocean on both sides of the peninsula, and a restaurant on the grounds. Okuma is the perfect northern retreat.

Neo Park

Neo Park surprised us in all the best ways. We stave off requests for pets as long as we upkeep frequent zoo visits particularly with a petting zoo. If your kiddos love holding animals and fishing this place will make them super happy! The boys caught too many fish to count which provided hours of fun at a whopping $23 for our family of four, its worth a stop!

Nago Pineapple Park

The pineapple park is the one place that has really grown and expanded since our first tour here over 12 years ago! From the shuttle that brings you to the front door to the endless shop full of pineapple samples this place was a hit with the whole family.
