3 Best parks in Fredericksburg Virginia

We’ve lived in Downtown Fredericksburg for over a year and have made all the rounds at the park, thanks to my sweet toddler. My two older boys have long outgrown parks, so thanks to my little girl, I have solid reasons to go and meet all the cool Mom’s there too! My top picks are based on scenery, facilities, and fun, rated by my kids! So if you are park hopping in Fredericksburg, be sure to check out these top 3 according to us!

Riverfront Park

This is Fredericksburg’s newest (and best) park in our opinion! It’s not your typical park with swings and playlet. It’s made of all natural materials with design in mind. Logs to walk on, climb, and scale, ropes to swing and hills covered with turf grass the kids LOVE. Also, best of all this park is waterfront on the Rapphanock river and powered by solar lights at night and plug in’s to charge your phone, super cool. Also, this park is still being developed, there will be a public restroom and walkways near the waterfront coming soon. Additionally in the summer, this park becomes a splash pad with the fountains turned on with a push of the button, so smart.

Kenmore Park

This is hands down one of the prettiest parks in the burg, full of tall beautiful pine trees for views, and plenty to do for everyone: playground, swings, pickle ball, tennis courts, and basketball. Truly it’s a gem, not to be missed.

There are public restrooms, lots of open play areas for birthday parties or events, and even a beautiful patch of bamboo forest!

Alum Spring Park

Alum Springs Park is a fun tucked away park into the woods, with hiking trails, river to splash in plus a play set and obstacle course type structures! They also have restrooms too! This is a popular spot for picture taking as well! Beware of the little bridge you cross to get to the park, it can sometimes fill with water!
