To work or not to work that is my current question! Some Mom’s have no trouble staying at home after kiddos come along…its is a perfect fit and even slip easily into homeschooling and child rearing. I however tend to NOT manage my time well when left to my own demise and frequently eat the bread of idleness. I absolutely love being a nurse, however every moment away from my child leaves me with a tinge of guilt and wonder, what’s a Mom to do?! I”ve talked with dozens of Moms with varying opinions and surmise it’s completely personal and differs from person to person, so no judgement here. I recognize they are only young once and don’t want a miss an ounce so my search for the ever elusive balance in life continues! Just wondering if anyone else struggles with this ongoing conundrum of mine?!
This picture is such a perfect dichotomy {girl in fancy ensemble on playground}, similar to the opposing forces I’m currently encountering! Although, rest assure my work uniform consists of navy blue scrubs and not that glamorous sequin number!
By the way, I love my new job, just miss Gideon and wonder about his preschool care?!
This is such a tough question and you are right, the answer is different for each person! I currently stay home, but I used to work (I miss working!) – we were lucky that we had a great daycare/preschool that we found. The workers there started to feel like family (we are still in touch with many of them!) so that helped! I always think that the more people in my child's life that love them, the better! It is important for children (in my opinion) to form healthy relationships with other adults (teachers, aunts, uncles, etc) – these relationships don't replace a parental relationship, but I think can help boost a child's confidence and will hopefully teach them that love comes in all forms (parental, mentor, etc)! Just my two cents!ReplyCancel
Hey Maria, I don't have children, but I imagine this to be one of the most difficult decisions a woman has to face. I'm sure you'll find the right path for you!ReplyCancel
For me I stay home and love it. At first though I felt useless and felt like I wasn't making a difference. Now I realize I do make the biggest difference. Every body is different.ReplyCancel
Oh I know it must be a struggle. I'm not a mom yet, but I can't imagine how hard it is. Tough decision. My mom stayed home with me till I was around 7. I loved it, but totally don't really remember my early years with her.
I'm glad you are enjoying your new job!ReplyCancel

I struggle with this ALL the time! When I am home I feel frustrated because it seems overwhelming to entertain a 2 year old all day! However, when I am at work I miss him with every ounce of my being (brings tears to my eyes to think about it now)! I have to add it is also stressful working and taking care of a family/household. I would love to have the ability to work part time and have him in daycare part time, but that is not an option for us yet. I agree with other comments that 1)they won't remember the younger years and 2)there is a huge benefit to a child connecting with others and forming relationships with people outside the home. If anything it is good to hear others feel the same way and aren't we blessed that we even have a choice.ReplyCancel

A Christian, married to an insanely gifted and talented Marine husband, mother to Gideon, Boaz, and our rainbow baby, Shiloh. I’m actually an R.N turned accidental photographer, currently living in Fredericksuburg, Va after completing our final tour in Okinawa Japan. You'll find travel, Jesus, and lifestyle posts here on the Journal.
Most frequently asked question!? When to book the newborn session- the magical window for posing is the first 10-14 days after birth! So book when you are expecting- we pencil in your due date then come to your home in Fredericksburg Va! I set up next to the best window- and preserve this special fleeting moment in time! We offer family session with newborn too and also like to include furry siblings! 🐶 🐈
Come behind the scenes with this sweet family and toddler with the best laugh in the world. We move fast and multi task in family sessions!! Can’t wait to meet their newest blessing!
2025 is the year of the wedding for me!! This snowy engagement session pretty much made my day when I arrived to 50 degree weather in Richmond at the botanical gardens! We headed straight for the Japanese section and it was magical!
Happy birthday to our double rainbow baby! If you are looking fit an over the top birthday party with incredible customer service and everything done, Chuck E. Cheese is it. 10/10.
